“False Ground“ includes photographs, videos and objects. All the works are related to themes and notions such as public space, architecture, ground, materials, horizontality, and history. The exhibition space in Coimbra is located inside a building marked by a long and traumatic history – it was a building used by the inquisition in the 16th century – a building that had an important and successful renovation. Therefore, the exhibition aims to reconfigure the exhibition space in order to project an experience of an imaginary place, a place that emerges from the juxtaposition of different times and spaces, and where the architectural elements, the objects and the figures, are simultaneously concrete and allegorical.
